6 June – Pushkin Day

Date: 06.06.2014

I still recall that magic moment

When you first came into my sight

Like fleeting vision, like an omen

      Of pure beauty and delight.

Pushkin was born into Russian nobility in Moscow. His matrilineal great grandfather – Abram Gannibal – was brought over as a slave from Africa and had risen to become an aristocrat. Pushkin published his first poem at the age of fifteen, and was widely recognized by the literary establishment by the time of his graduation from the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum. 6 of June is a Day of Pushkin and we advice you to visit places with memorials in honor of Pushkin: Memorial at the Pushkin street, at the Art square and other. Listen to poems of Pushkin and read it of yourself. Find poem at the Graffiti L hostel and share with friends.
